Utility Knife
Utility knives are useful for any cutting job. They typically have retractable blades and are extremely sharp. Great care should be taken when using this tool and children should never be allowed to use this tool. In this application, the utility knife will be used to score and snap the drywall patch down to size. The utility knife is also used to shave the patch down to size when dry fitting the patch. There is a very old saying, " You can always cut something smaller, however you can never make it bigger." This applies to the size of the patch in relation to the hole cut in the wall. You can always shave the patch down to size, but you can't make it any bigger. Utility knives range in price from about $2.00 to $6.00.
